If you like fresh Nepali & Indian groceries this is the place to be. From exotic water buffalo dried meat to puff pastries. Prices are decent, clean store, easy access, item availability. All jn all A+

The store is well stocked with nepalese and indian products. It is exciting to find a store where you can get all the nepalese products and it always makes me feel homely. The products are reasonably priced and the store is well maintaned with great customer service.

I have been here couple times. Good customer service and lots of good stuff. Price is reasonable. Parking might be little hassle as it is street parking. One of my favorite Nepali grocery store. Very organized.

All edibles Nepali can be found here, or at least it looks like they have everything a Kathmandu housewife would want. But what do I know? I visited Nepal once two decades ago and was lucky enough to share a meal with my local guide and his family. I remember that meal well because his wife had to go to the next door neighbor to find me a fork. I know there was a lot of dal and peas in their diet, and sure enough, there's a huge variety to be found here in individual bags (photo: http://bit.ly/2qw6aMu). Four Nepalese friends decided to open this small but nicely organized grocery store a couple of years ago. It was a delight to explore the aisles for spices, mustard oil (photo: http://bit.ly/2HnZV75), pickles (photo: http://bit.ly/2GXbSRB), and even incense (photo: http://bit.ly/2qxqzRh). Jamie W. and I were tempted by the many exotic items on hand like the hard-dried cheese candies (photo: http://bit.ly/2quXh5J) but settled on a bag of unskinned coconut slices that were thankfully unsweetened as well a bag of chana dal that we added later to a mixed lentil soup (photo: http://bit.ly/2GYBrlm). There was quite a treasure trove of unusual delights in here, definitely worthwhile to peruse in order to find your inner sherpa.

This is probably the best Indian and Nepali store ever been in Bay Area with abundant Nepali foods and gifts we been looking for. Definitely it makes us remember of back days in Nepal when you get all those you need.

Himalayan Grocery is a small, clean, purveyors of premade food from Nepal, Tibet,. India, and Southeast Asian nations. no fresh meats nor produce. premade fits my style. no time to cook, just heat and eat. eats: cookies (.49) -tasted an off taste, also had palm oil as an ingredient. overall cookies tasted good. "rara" instant noodle. nepal, (.60) -heated by placing noodles in hot water, covered noodles tasted mushy, stale, unlike "the japanese way, healthy" printed on label warning: has msg, not to be feed to infants below 12 months. foodnotes: -lots of good food stuff here, no time to prepped it.. news on net: Pres. Trump accuses Pres. Obama of tapping his phone -Obama spokesman denies wiretapping any u.s. citizen ever. *possibility FBI was monitoring communication between soviet officials and Trump staffers.

Nice addition to the El Cerrito/Albany area. The only market that carries legit Indian goods in this area that doesn't require a parking meter and a drive through half of Berkeley. There aren't any fresh veggies, which is fine, cause I can get those anywhere, but I'd like to see a selection of fresh herbs. I'll be back.

Just days old (opened on Sunday April 3rd) Himalayan Grocery is the new kid on the block. Although there are plenty of Nepalese restaurants in the area there aren't any nearby grocery stores that sell Indian and Nepalese products. The store features a variety of beans, spices, sauces, pastes in various sizes. Curry, turmeric, black or yellow mustard seeds, pepper, asafetida.cumin, are just a few of the spices available. They are sold in packages rather than in bulk but you can easy find the size you need whether you're a home cook or a restaurant chef. I liked the displays of crispy noodle mixes--some of them used in pani poori dishes I've had at restaurants. Again they have small to large sized bags. I bought a bag and added peanuts and sunflower seeds to it. I'm crunching away on it as I write this--yum! The store is modest in size but they have a variety of products, many of which I am not familiar with, to choose from, including teas. http://www.eastbayexpress.com/WhatTheFork/archives/2016/04/01/el-cerrito-gets-a-himalayan-market .
